Indiana Pacers star point guard Tyrese Haliburton “desperately” wants to play through the left hamstring soreness that’s ultimately sidelining him for Game 3 of the team’s Eastern Conference Finals series against the Boston Celtics.
However, head coach Rick Carlisle told reporters (h/t James Boyd of The Athletic) that the decision to sit Haliburton was made by the Pacers’ training staff.
Haliburton, who just made the All-NBA Third Team, averaged 20.1 points, a league-high 10.9 assists and 3.9 assists this regular season for the Pacers, who made the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2014.
